Lacey’s past has caught up with her. Traveling with her daughter, Emily, on the Amtrak Texas Eagle, she sees a man who she believes is an assassin, Ishmael Shavik, take a seat in her car. Suddenly, the air is filled with the screeching sounds of metal on metal. Lacey is thrown out of her seat. When
she awakens, she is in a hospital with her arm secured by a handcuff to
the bed. An FBI agent informs her that she is accused her of
murdering an NSA agent. Worse, the FBI agent claims there is no record
of Emily being a passenger on the train. Lacey manages to sneak a phone
call to a friend, Jim Micah, who comes to her aid. FLEE
THE NIGHT is a great romantic suspense story. As Jim and Lacey flee the
hospital, they realize there may a mole in the NSA who engineered the
murder of Lacey’s husband and a great story develops as they search to
uncover the truth and find Lacey's daughter. Two of Susan’s
books, THE PERFECT MATCH and TYING THE KNOT have previously been
reviewed on Roundtable Reviews. I’ll be looking for more of her work
in the future.
