THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ANIMALS is a must-have book for a curious child.  Just about every animal on this planet is included, but the information is concise enough to make the book appealing to younger children.  This isn’t a book packed with detailed information; instead, it contains the basics that most elementary school children would find interesting.

The book is broken down into the following sections: Savanna, desert, rainforest, mountains, polar, seas, lakes/rivers, plains/prairies, woods, countryside, gardens, and home.  Details about the animal’s habitat, diet, and breeding information are included, and often bonuses are also added.  For example, information on how the Oystercatcher got its name can be found inside.  With so many categories, you are certain to find an animal of interest.

Numerous, glossy pictures also help to provide plenty of visuals for children.  I certainly can’t imagine not having this book handy for your youngster; it’s worth every penny.
