DARK LOVER is
the first of the "Black Dagger Brotherhood" series. It
introduces the reader to the dark and dangerous world of the vampire
protectors, a group of men who are fighting to preserve a race that
lives amongst us unseen, unheard, yet hunted almost to extinction. J. R.
Ward has created a dark and deadly new world that these brother will
live and die to
protect.
DARK LOVER introduces the reader to Wrath, a warrior, purebred vampire,
and unwilling ruler of the vampires who has shirked his responsibilities
for the longest time. He fights to forgets, but with every fight
he realizes more and more the wrong his race is experiencing and so he
takes greater and
bigger risks. His blood brothers, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Vishous,
and Tohrment watch his back and stand by him through thick and thin.
It is not surprising that they are by his side when he unwillingly takes
on the dying wish of his closest friend, to watch over his half-human
daughter who will turn into a vampire soon. Yet when he finally
makes contact with Beth Randall he is in over his head, and life will
change for all of them -- but will Beth survive the changes?
J. R. Ward's latest contribution to the vampire lore and myth is nothing
short of brilliant and her series is off to a great start. It is
not surprising that the topic of vampires in general, and paranormal
romance in particular attracts a lot of attention from aspiring writers,
but when a writer manages to put the two together with such brilliance,
it is worth noting, and any reader who enjoys a good vampire novel will
soon find DARK LOVER to be a must-read.
DARK LOVER is a brilliant book that lacks nothing. Move over Anne
Rice, the competition has arrived and is here to stay!
