Here is the book every parent needs for Halloween. A pleasant mixture of humor adds with the slightly spooky feel and blends into an extremely entertaining read. MRS. MCMURPHY’S PUMPKIN is sure to please children of all ages. While her farm work keeps her busy, Mrs. McMurphy finds herself with a little mystery on her hands. Halloween is almost here and every morning she finds an unusual visitor near her door. That visitor is a rather large pumpkin—one that promises as soon as its teeth arrive it is going to eat her! Instead of getting scared, Mrs. McMurphy places the pumpkin outside. When it looks as though the pumpkin will not give up, Mrs. McMurphy develops a little plan of her own. My daughter and I must have read this book a dozen times over the weekend. To me, that is the test of an outstanding read—one that makes you laugh repeatedly, even when you know the story by heart. Charming illustrations by Delana Bettoli, perfectly suited for the season, add to this enjoyable read. MRS. MCMURPHY'S PUMPKIN is geared for ages three and up, which I feel is right on the money. Perfect for Halloween, Rick Walton's book is a must-read.
