With the spring training season, baseball fans turn to fantasy baseball as a means for entertainment and competition.  FANTASYLAND tells the story of Sam Walker, a Wall Street Journal sports writer, who learned all about fantasy baseball one season after making it into an elite fantasy league called Tout Wars.

Tout Wars only allow true professionals into their league, so Sam Walker was lucky to be accepted.  What he learned that year was that fantasy baseball is challenging, thoroughly enjoyable, and yet aggravating as well.  FANTASYLAND offers some true stories from both Sam Walker and other fantasy leaguers, and also some tips that fantasy baseball players may find extremely helpful.

While I try to avoid fantasy baseball -- it is too time consuming for my tastes -- my husband is usually in at least two teams and for the spring, summer, and part of fall, he can spend hours a day studying players, making trades, and organizing his roster.  I've seen how addicting it can become and think that any fantasy sports fan will enjoy this book.  The writing is warm and friendly and by the end of the book the reader will have laughed at some of the stories and at other times nodded his or her head in agreement.
