Maggie
Summer, a widowed antiques dealer, heads for Maine to visit an old
friend, Amy, who has bought a house that is supposedly haunted.
Amy’s desperation to become pregnant might explain the ghostly
crying she hears at night. No
one expects the body of a local teen to be found in the yard, and
Amy’s husband is involved in a car accident because his brake lines
have been cut. Now Amy is a
prime suspect and it is up to Maggie to clear her friend’s name and
uncover the truth. SHADOWS ON THE COAST OF MAINE is the second book in the Antique Print Mystery series. I have not read the first book, SHADOWS AT THE FAIR, though now I would like to start from the beginning. I did enjoy SHADOWS ON THE COAST OF MAINE, though at times I found it pretty slow moving. Not much happened, not much information was revealed, yet Maggie cracks the case anyway. She seemed to figure out the case without any evidence, which threw me off guard come the end of the novel. Having been to Maine before, I know the author has done an accurate and thorough job describing her setting. The setting is key in creating needed tension in the novel. The author’s knowledge of the area, she is an antique dealer from Maine, reveals her extensive knowledge of the history and geography. I am planning to ask my local library if they have the first in the series. I also plan on reading the third book as soon as it is available. I found SHADOWS ON THE COAST OF MAINE to be very entertaining.
