Did you know that there is an island located 100 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia?  This island is no more really than a thirty mile long and mile wide beach, but it sites serenely out there in the ocean, at the mercy of the tidal forces.  I know this was news to me, and I immediately delved into the book to learn about this history of Sable Island.  Home to wild horses and harbor seals, only a few government agents live on the island year round, though scientists studying the wildlife do make occasional visits.

SABLE ISLAND is packed with incredible details of both the past and present of this island.  For an island I had never heard of, the informative guide presents the information in a rich, vivid, and understandable manner.  I learned a lot.

I think the only thing that I felt was missing were pictures of the area.  However, there is an extensive website available that can help fill in that craving.
