Helen Hawthorne is back and this time she’s found a trendy job working for Millicent’s Bridal Salon.  Weddings and wedding planning mean a time of joy and laughter; just what Helen needs!  Once again, however, Helen finds herself landing smack dab in the middle of a murder.

When a very rich mother of a bride-to-be walks into the salon, Helen and the shop’s owner, Millicent, find themselves being ordered around while the bride-to-be says very little for herself.  It is the mother, Kiki, who picks the bride’s dress, the bride’s veil, the wedding party, and the rest of the wedding parties’ outfits.  Helen wonders how the bride-to-be remains so tolerant of her bossy mother.  Until the day of the wedding, Kiki’s body is found.  More importantly, it is the bride’s choice for a wedding dress that killed her.

Police quickly zero in on Helen, as her fingerprints are on the murder weapon.  With so many possible killers and her own neck on the chopping block, Helen must act quickly if she wants to clear her own name before police serve her with an arrest warrant.

I love the Dead End Job Mystery series.  The light, breezy nature of the book makes for splendid reading—a perfect mix of humor, mystery and even romance.  Those unfamiliar with the series will not have any issue, as Elaine Viets does a fantastic job in bringing new readers up to date quickly without dragging the current story down with past details.  I always look forward to the next Helen Hawthorne mystery and can’t wait until next May!
