A Dead-End Job Mystery

Even if you have never read one of the previous Dead-End Job Mystery novels, you will find it is easy to catch up with Helen Hawthorne.  The author does a splendid job bringing the reader up to date.

Helen Hawthorne's latest job has her working at the Barker Brother's Pampered Pet Boutique.  The work is fun, the co-workers enjoyable, but some customers are rather troublesome.  Helen's day starts off bad when she is asked to pick up and deliver a spoiled woman's Yorkshire Terrier.  The woman is naked and makes no effort to cover herself up.  When Helen returns the dog later that day, Tammy is still nude, but this time she's sitting with a knife in her back.  Helen cannot get caught in another high profile murder, so she erases all traces of her having been in the house and leaves the scene of the crime.

Later, she returns a famous dog to the wrong person.  When Helen learns that she's given the priceless Labradoodle to the owner's ex-husband, she offers to prevent a lawsuit by finding the dog within a week.  Little does Helen know that doing so will put her life in danger.

All of the Dead-End Job Mysteries are packed with lively characters, a fast-pace, and even a touch of romance.  MURDER UNLEASHED is another fun read, and I was thrilled to see Helen begin letting her guard down a little in terms of her romance with one of her neighbors.   I can't wait to see what she gets up to next!
