Beloved
wife and mother Amanda Douglas wants nothing more than to be with her
son, Josh. He is her reason for being and without him she knows she is
lost. Unfortunately for her, certain inexplicable events have led her
farther from him than she could have ever imagined. Trapped in a world
where she cannot truly be with her son, she is quickly faced with the
frightening reality that she is no longer among the living. Now, Amanda
wants revenge against the man who put her here. Her dear and beloved
husband....John. Josh
Douglas can see his mommy. He can also hear her beautiful voice as she
soothes him through a time he doesn't fully understand. Josh knows that
his mom shouldn't be here. She is supposed to be in her box and asleep.
His daddy, John, doesn't like it when Josh talks to mommy. Lately it
seems that his dad doesn't even have time for him and would just as soon
foist him off on someone else. Josh knows that as long as his mom is
near that he will always be safe. John
Douglas is a wealthy and powerful lawyer who spends his best days
wrapped in the arms of various young, blonde women. Never one to
practice fidelity with his wife, he is quickly finding out that hell
hath no fury like a woman scorned. To keep his cherished possessions
from being taken away by his spurned wife, he simply does the
unthinkable. He murders her. Now John is ready to sow his oats without
fear of spousal repercussions. Little does John know that he is about to
be an unwilling participant in a dance macabre. Or that his partner
would be the last person he ever could have expected, Amanda has come
back, and there is no stopping her this time. I applaud Jacqueline Silvestri for telling her tale with such an enigmatic voice. As I read on, I found myself a willing sacrifice to words so full of passionate intensities that I had no choice but to listen. Written in the first person, I had the chance to soar along with Amanda as she sought to take her vengeance on a cruel husband who had no conscience. Once a victim, her strength in death helped her to overcome the shadows that once held her captive. Amanda's love for Josh enabled her with the will to persevere and linger until she was satisfied that no harm would befall him. As accident after accident coursed their way through John's life, would it ever be enough for Amanda to finally let go? Could she say good-bye to her son knowing that she would never get the chance to be with him as he grew? Would Amanda's overpowering need to settle the score take precedence over what mattered the most? Only
Jacqueline Silvestri can answer these questions. She did so with
an exceptionally talented flair that left me breathless. Upon finishing DANCING WITH THE DEVIL, I was left with euphoric feelings that true love is indeed eternal. We may not live forever, but our souls can be everlasting. Amanda gives strength on a realistically chilling level to all of those who may find themselves in her situation. But, can we be sure that the choices we make are the ones that will count when the final curtain is closed? I recommend Jacqueline Silvestri's novel to those readers who aren't afraid to believe. DANCING WITH THE DEVIL is guaranteed to waltz straight into your heart and leave you gasping for an encore!
