A Knitting Mystery

I've not read Maggie Sefton's prior novels, and I feel that missing those first three books led to a little confusion.  I get that the heroine, Kelly Flynn, is an accountant who works from her own home.  I also understand that she has inherited a sizeable ranch.  What I don't quite understand is exactly who her aunt and uncle are in relation to the knitting shop that Kelly spends most of her time visiting.  I thought this might prove to be distracting, but eventually I got into the flow of the novel and found it no longer mattered.

In A KILLER STITCH, it seems that love is in the air, but so is murder.  Kelly's friend, Jennifer, asks Kelly to help her look into the murder of a local womanizer.  It turns out that Jennifer's friend is the prime suspect, but she claims she is innocent.  Kelly isn't as convinced, but she trusts Jennifer's judgment and agrees to help investigate.

I suppose my problem with A KILLER STITCH came from the fact that I had solved the murder far too easily.  The murder occurs in chapter three, by the end of chapter three I knew exactly who killed the womanizer and had a pretty good idea why.  It turns out I was correct in relation to the murderer's identity and half way through the book, I had even figured out why.

Admittedly, I do read a load of mysteries and I am a crime show junkie, so perhaps others may not be able to pick out the killer quite as quickly.  I still enjoyed A KILLER STITCH, but I do feel that knowing the killer's identity so far in advance was a bit of a spoiler.
