Mary DeNunzio is a smart and sassy female attorney struggling hard to make ends meet in Philadelphia.  Having grown up on Philly's South Side, Mary has a particular soft spot for the little guy--all the regular work-a-day Joes and business owners that seem to get swept under the rug when a big corporation comes into play.  When she takes on the pro-bono case of Amadeo Brandolini, an Italian immigrant who committed suicide while interned during WWII, Mary quickly finds herself immersed in a world of intrigue, secrets, and murder.  This seemingly simple estate case is much more than it seems--especially since it is readily apparent to Mary that Brandolini was a victim of homicide.  When one of Mary's associates is murdered, it confirms that Mary is on the right track.  But, can Mary find Brandolini's murderer before she becomes the next victim?

Scottoline's KILLER SMILE is an absolute summer find!  Seldom does a historical mystery prove to be as exciting and entertaining as Ms. Scottoline's new thriller.  KILLER SMILE blends historical fact perfectly with mystery and adventure to create a story that enthralls the reader from the very first page.  Mary DeNunzio is clever and witty--imagine Miss Marple with much  better fashion sense!  The mystery is compelling and provides the reader with a trail of clues that will leave them guessing (and guessing and guessing) until the very last page.  Although the story is dark at times, Scottoline provides comic mood-breakers that relieve the tension nicely.  If you enjoy John Grisham novels, then be sure to give KILLER SMILE a try!  It is the perfect book for the office, the beach, or the sofa.  Good work, Ms. Scottoline!
