MURDER BY THE GLASS
marks Michele Scott's second entry into her "A Wine Lover's Mystery"
series. Events from the first book are summed up nicely without
becoming tedious. I consider that to be the mark of a talented author.
After solving one murder mystery, Nikki Sands is determined to settle
down into her new job at the Malveaux Estate's winery. With two men
vying for her attention, Nikki's biggest task is deciding between them.
Unfortunately, her life is about to become hectic once more. Her best
friend, Isabel, is hired to cater an elaborate wedding between Susan
Jennings and Kristof Waltman. The problem is Kristof is Isabel's
boyfriend--one that Isabel did not know was engaged to another woman.
When the demanding bride is murdered on her wedding day, Isabel is
arrested for the murder. Nikki cannot sit back and let her friend go to
jail, so she puts her investigative skills to the test once more.
In a word, MURDER BY THE GLASS is a scrumptious tale! The mystery takes
many twists from beginning to end, though I did have the killer
identified before the end. However, it is the delightful recipes and
wine pairings that usually have me drooling for more. This time, you
can find recipes for Cannelloni Florentine paired with a Zinfandel, Pork
Tenderloin with a Port Mushroom Sauce paired with Sin Zin, or
Strawberries and Cream Napoleon with Harvest Dessert wine. Each wine
pairing gives the reader a specific brand name to purchase.
Michele Scott is a delightful author. I only hope her next book comes
out quickly! I'm ready and waiting.
