SADDLED WITH TROUBLE is the inaugural novel of what is sure to become a most beloved Horse Lover’s Mysteries series by Michele Scott. Already known for her Wine Lover’s Mysteries, Ms. Scott’s rise to fame reads like the proverbial rags to riches story of the aspiring author; having weathered rejection letters, attended numerous writers’ conferences, mastered the Writers’ Digest correspondence course for novel writing, and never given up, she finally saw success in March of 2004 and since then her books have been most warmly received.

SADDLED WITH TROUBLE introduces the reader to Michaela Bancroft, who at the tender age of only 32 finds herself being traded in for a newer model by her lowlife husband. Yet being a horse trainer at heart as well as by profession, Michaela finds solace in her work and soon moves forward and even ignores the barbs and taunts of her soon-to-be-ex’s beauty queen girlfriend, when the unimaginable happens: her beloved uncle is murdered. Thrust into a murder investigation where she quickly realizes that those closest to her are not necessarily what they claim to be. Testing the waters with an overeager land developer, a much younger second wife who might face an unexplained pregnancy, a father in the clutches of a gambling addiction, and a money making scheme unearthed that would have profited her uncle but took advantage of countless horse aficionados, there suddenly is no shortage of suspects. Will Michaela rein in her uncle’s killer, or will the mysterious evildoer get the goods on her first?

SADDLED WITH TROUBLE is a wonderful beginning for a new series that will keep readers coming back for more. Michele Scott’s unerring wit and ability to draw in the audience from the very first page will make this one of the most watched series debuts. The action is fast paced, the humor and quirkiness most welcomed, and the characters are lovable, believable, and in some cases so downright nasty that you are looking forward to their getting their comeuppance. Mystery lovers will adore this book and promptly clear a spot on their book shelves for the next installment of the Horse Lover’s Mystery series.
