Although Delphine Dalgleish’s father was Scottish, she had been raised in the French colony of Mauritius and her sympathies lay with Napolean.  When Sir Gideon Landor escaped his French captors, was recaptured, and escaped the second time, Delphine found him on the paths above the cliffs but did not raise an alarm as she felt an attraction to him.
