COLOR BLIND is
a suspense novel that has few equals. Though only the third full
length novel of artist Jonathan Santlofer, this masterpiece begs for
inclusion into any suspense lover's library. An art student at Boston
University and Pratt Institute, Mr. Santlofer is an accomplished art
instructor, artist, and all around gifted Renaissance man.
COLOR BLIND returns the reader to the privileged world of Kate McKinnon.
On the surface, Kate has everything anyone could want and more: a rich
and adoring husband, a career that fulfills her, and beautiful
surroundings of comfort. All this comes crashing down when a
killer invades her world and she must, once again, go back to her roots:
the police work she used to do.
The killer hits close to home, and Kate must overcome shock, disbelief,
and betrayal on multiple fronts to not only find the killer, but save
his latest victim from certain death. She will succeed, but at
what price?
At a first reading, Jonathan Santlofer's suspense thriller has the
interesting twist of dealing with a deranged artist. Yet when
delving deeper into the characters, setting and plot, it is astonishing
to see the world unfold that Mr. Santlofer has created. His villain is a
mixture of frightening handsomeness, cold-blooded calculation, evil, and
childlike innocence - a brilliant character! Kate is a
wonderful character as well, strong and determined, yet at the same time
feminine and vulnerable. This character lacks nothing, and any mystery
lover knows how hard it is to create a heroine that is not only
believable, but vulnerable at the same time. Even the supporting
characters are well-crafted and have an astonishing depth. When
reading this masterpiece, the names James Patterson and Dan Brown kept
coming to mind.
COLOR BLIND is a breathtaking story that will keep the reader on the
edge of the seat, burning the midnight oil so as to read just one more
page. A great read!
