In July, WALKING THE WALK is being released to the general and Christian markets. Though the book contains some religious material, the general appeal will cover a vast majority of people. Leslie Sansone's book is a thirty-day program that is meant to help men and women become inspired to walk. Within WALKING THE WALK, the author offers a number of success stories to show that her methods truly do work for people from all walks of life. The ultimate goal is clear, instead of sitting around, it is time for people to get outside, walk every day, and use that time to reflect on personal goals. Each chapters ends with a reflection guide in which the reader/user can record how far he or she walked, as well as provide notes on the thoughts or feelings that occurred along the way. Additionally, each personal goal sheet contains a brief "affirmation" that is used to set the tone for that day's walk. WALKING THE WALK ends with a seven day meal plan that this reader felt would make most shy away from the diet. Meals are limited in options and for some the foods just would not work. For example, day two involves a bowl of Go-Lean Crunch (very expensive for many), natural peanut butter on a banana (allergies many concern some), and coffee/tea for breakfast. Lunch moves on to a cup of chicken soup made with a clear broth, half a grilled cheese sandwich (both are hard for some to take to work), and an apple. For dinner, bow-tie noodles and broccoli, a grilled chicken breast, and green tea are on the menu. While meals of this nature may work for some, others will have issues with them. Also, the food options would quickly become boring if substitutions became necessary for those who cannot eat peanut butter, seafood, lettuce, cheese, etc. WALKING THE WALK does offer sensible advice. Everyone should be getting out and walking on a daily basis. The rest of the advice found within, however, may not work for everyone.
