Hugh B. Sanders is a salesman/sales trainer/manager/motivational speaker, that’s the short of it.  He is not a doctor, dietician, or someone knowledgeable in dieting, and he doesn’t claim to be an expert in anything other than self-improvement skills.

THE SUBCONSCIOUS DIET looks at losing weight from a new standpoint.  His goal in this book is to show you how to change your mind-set so that you can and will succeed with your dieting goals.  The book is not lengthy, you can easily read it in a couple of hours, and contains many self-assessment and self-improvement work sheets to help you with your goals.  The unusual approach to improving yourself instead of dieting may appeal to those who are tired of weight-loss failure.

My biggest hesitation in recommending this book is that there is no proof that his methods will work for dieting. You won't find before and after pictures or testimonials.  While his motivational speeches have helped many become better salespeople, my own belief is that salesmen cannot always be trusted--the bottom line is that they want your money.

Dieting and sales shouldn’t be placed on the same level, in my opinion.  I’ve yet to meet a totally honest salesperson whose goal wasn’t to push you into buying something better than you wanted in order to make money for themselves, and I’m afraid having read this book that I still get the feeling that you are being sold an item you otherwise would have ignored.
