Originally published in 1994, Walker & Company is
doing readers a favor and reissuing James Sallis's third
Lew Griffin novel.  BLACK HORNET gives readers
more of a glimpse into Lew.

When a rooftop sniper brings fear to the city of New Orleans
in the 1960's, Lew Griffin feels the impact personally.  A
woman he was standing with is shot and killed.  Lew
cannot help but take this attack personally, and he vows
to reveal the sniper's identity.

Once again, we see the events and hints to the past
that have turned Lew from a devoted police officer into
a kindhearted alcoholic.  Regardless of his actions, it is
impossible not to feel for the man.

My hat is off to James Sallis for penning a poignant,
riveting series that keeps me breathless.  I hope that
Lew will continue on for many books to come.
