Kim Colbert, age 13, and Kelly Armstrong, age 12, are best friends and share everything, especially their love of murder mysteries.   They read every mystery they can find and play their favorite game, Clue, over and over.  

One day strange things started happening at Mr. Stevens. The old man lived across the street from Kim and had caretakers come in throughout the week. Kelly was visiting with Kim when they happened to notice the two suspicious looking caretakers at Mr. Stevens on a Saturday.    Kim hadn’t seen Mr. Stevens for days.  The girls decided to take their elderly neighbor some flowers, but the visiting nurse, Stacey, wouldn’t admit them into the home.   Furthermore, the grounds man, Kurt, was in the house making a lot of noise with tools.   As Kim and Kelly spied on the characters, things became more suspicious.  There was now a third man in the plot that sat in a car and watched the Steven’s home or continually passed by at a slow speed.    Finally, Kim and Kelly saw Kurt bury something in the back yard.  Next, the man in the car confronted Kurt and Stacey causing the girls to quickly flee the scene.

As a surprise to their daughters, the Colberts and the Armstrongs took a joint weekend trip to Shadow Manor, a rumored to haunted house, where murder mystery weekends were held.    Upon arriving at the manor, the girls were excited to get the chance to try their skills at solving a murder mystery, but soon they were in for a bigger mystery then planned.    Who of all people showed up as part of the actors in the mystery -- Stacey and Kurt!   However, there was another man that looked a lot like Kurt too!   Soon the manor murder took place, but that same evening the maid, Stacey, was shot as well!  Kim and Kelly witnessed the shooting in a darkened dining room and soon were targets of a REAL murderer!

Who could they trust?  The investigator looked just like Kurt!  Was he to be trusted or was he trying to cover his tracks and get rid of his witnesses?  The story takes you on a spine tingling journey of danger, ghosts, and murder!  Will Kim and Kelly be able to solve the murder and save themselves or will they be the next victims?  Read FANTASIES ARE MURDER by T.J. T.J. Perkins has done a wonderful job with FANTASIES ARE MURDER.    She has cleverly penned a murder mystery that is not too graphic and violent, yet offers the mystery and suspense that is a must.   I see this read appealing to youth as young as eight up to the teen that just loves a good mystery.   As a parent, I am pleased at the wholesome entertainment this novel offers.  Well done Ms. Perkins.
