Young Daniel is going from door to door trying to sell his unwanted junk.  After his father died, his mother has struggled to keep up with bills.  They are slowly sinking into debt.  Things reach a critical point when their landlord demands rent payment or they will have to move.  However, as is usual, his mother puts on a happy face and recites the same phrase – All is well.

Daniel and his mother have both forgotten exactly why “All is well.”  However, their neighbors are about to band together to show them the true meaning of God’s love.

ALL IS WELL contains bright and cheery artwork with every page, slightly reminiscent of the old Norman Rockwell paintings in that they do a great job capturing the character’s emotions.  My daughter could tell what would happen in the book just by looking at the picture.  This is a big perk for beginning readers who tend to make up their own stories to go along with the illustrations.

I have to admit, I choked up reading the book; this makes it hard for out-loud reading.  Frank Peretti’s story is touching and delivers a clear message about trusting in God, even in your darkest hours.
