Andrea Pennington is president of the Pennington Institute for Health and Wellness, an institute which she and her mother, Abigail Pennington co-founded. Each of these women are doctors of medicine, and even more, they are advocates of good health and well-being of the individual. Unlike many of their compatriots in the practice of medicine, these professionals fully understand that the spiritual and emotional components of each person is integral to wellness. health.

THE PENNINGTON PLAN is simple in its concept: the integration and balance of the three parts of the whole-- body, mind, and spirit. Fortunately, that is just the beginning of the road to wellness; the book goes on to explain to the reader how to replace old habits and negative thinking with new habits and thoughts that are genuinely yours. True wellness, that of being in balance and in touch with yourself, can only be achieved when all three parts of the whole are working to their most positive capacity-- whatever that is for each individual.

Step by step, the authors Pennington lay out a plan for change that is at once reasonable and practical. I found the pages to be full of hope as well, partially from the plan itself, partially from the approach the authors have taken. If the steps necessary to achieve wellness were something expensive, drastic, or difficult, the book would be interesting, but useless to most readers. Such is not the case with THE PENNINGTON PLAN. This is a well thought out plan for living by two professionals that know, and live, their subject.

Although borrowing this book from a friend or the library would allow the book to be read, I suggest that it is a book you will want for your book shelf, or better yet, your night stand-- it is something to which you will want to refer again and again, if not nothing more than self-affirmation and a tiny push in the right direction, which, when you consider it, is a pretty important step in wellness.
