A collection of short observations by John Pechacek is the theme in his November release. The humor is delayed in I GOT JOKES AND ANECDOTES. It’s almost like waiting for Godot - it sometimes never comes. John Pechacek has delivered a book that lacks insight into the different sections he discusses, such as television, college, dogs and diets. He was creative in dividing his book up into these sections. My only wish, however, is that he would have drawn out the jokes a bit more. Just when you are starting to get into a story and want more, Pechacek is into the next joke. It’s as if a smile is starting to form on your face but is quickly replaced by a frown, as you think up ways in which he could have ended that joke. I
want to sit down and read jokes to laugh, not ponder how they could have
actually been written with more humor and wit. I GOT JOKES AND ANECDOTES
reads like an unfinished piece. It has promise but it needs to be
longer. Pechacek could have made a bigger impact with his book had he
developed a bit more on the scenarios discussed. |
