Growing up in a Christian home I was familiar with Sandi Patty’s music from an early age.  I remember hearing her songs in my Sunday School classes and watching members of our congregation performing their own renditions at various services.

However, I was not familiar with the story of her life found in the book BROKEN ON THE BACK ROW.  It is within this book that readers can learn of Patty’s childhood, her rise and acclaim in the Christian music community, and her controversial fall.

The honesty and openness with which Sandi tells her own story is surprising.  Her motivation is not to present the book as some Hollywood “tell-all” blaming others for what she did, nor is it even to give herself a pat on the back for being so truthful.  No, her confession is a testimony to what God’s grace has done in her life.  Sandi reveals the journey she took to discover the truth behind the very lyrics she had spent much of her life singing.  The power of God’s forgiveness has been clearly demonstrated in her life. Sandi Patty presents this book as proof of God’s mercy and to let others know of the same mercy that is offered to those seeking a second chance when they find themselves BROKEN ON THE BACK ROW.
