One would expect a book about a newly divorced woman to be rather depressing. The opposite is true in DAISY DOOLEY DOES DIVORCE. Now that she's out of her marriage, Daisy realizes that she has a lot to learn about relationships. While she loved her husband of three years, Daisy realizes that she may not have been "in love" with him. She was always asking "is this it" of herself, even during her honeymoon, and that says it all. Now Daisy is hopping back into the world of dating and it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Living with her mom and her mom's clan of lively dachshunds, Daisy is almost forty and is back where she started basically. Her mom's sage advice, her father's support (not typical for him to be supportive), and the advice of her married and unmarried friends has Daily struggling to find what is right for her. After a heartbreaking event leaves Daisy questioning her choices in terms of romance, she contacts her first true love, Julius Vantonakis, to find insight. Sparks fly with one problem, Julius is about to marry his pregnant girlfriend. DAISY DOOLEY DOES DIVORCE is not heavy reading. In fact, with temperatures reaching record highs, I was able to sit outside in the sun and soak up some much needed Vitamin D while enjoying the casual, witty read. Anna Pasternak is able to capture the nuances of many divorced women and roll them into one entertaining character. Readers may find themselves unhappy with some of Daisy's decisions, but that's part of the enjoyment of reading. You can also finish the story and then pass it to friends for some pretty lively discussions. I'm not divorced, nor would I want to be, but after reading Daisy's story, I am pretty sure that some women out there might find comfort in Daisy's situation.
