Attorney
Will Chambers is faced with what seems an impossible task; win the case
for his client when the conditions are hopeless. The terms of
Randolph Willoughby's will stipulate that Jonathan Joppa, the assistant
pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Charlotte, will inherit Stony
Island. First, he must prove that a distant Joppa relative can be
cleared of the reputation of being a pirate. It seems that Isaac
Joppa had been
indicted for the crime of being a pirate under Edward Teach, otherwise
known as Blackbeard.
The majority of MISSING WITNESS deals with the present day court case
where the Judge seems to be favoring the opposition. The characters are
lifelike and I could not help siding with Will in his impossible
task. This is a book that will be enjoyed by those readers who
like historical mysteries.
