Most of CALIFORNIA GIRL takes place in the 1960s. However the book starts of in 1954 when Nick, Clay, David and Andy Becker are fighting the Vonn brothers in the SunBlesst packinghouse. Here is when the sister, Janelle Vonn, is first introduced.

Years pass, Janelle is found murdered in that same packinghouse. Nick is the detective on the case, Andy is a newspaper reporter, David is a minister, and Clay is fighting in Vietnam.

Throughout CALIFORNIA GIRL, the reader discovers bits and pieces of the characters' lives leading up to the present. Each character in this story is struggling with an issue and their lives are all connected somehow. It is a very interesting story because once you think you know who killed Janelle, something else leads you to change your mind.

There were times that the novel hit some dull spots but even then the reader had to pay attention. You never know what might be important later. Parker had all the monumental elements of the sixties in this novel: Vietnam, John Birch Society chapters, hippies, free love, sex, drugs and rock and roll.

At the end, Parker has included the first few pages of his newest hardcover book, Fallen. Check out his website at www.tjeffersonparker.com for the latest news on the author and upcoming novels.
