Kerry Kathleen “K.K.” Roarke may have gone to law school, but private investigation work is what makes her tick.  She has found her niche with the profession, her specialty being missing persons, and can’t imagine doing anything else for a living.  Her current client, Ian Donlevy, is concerned for his sister.  She vanished eleven days ago.  Ian wants to make sure his sister is okay.

K.K. starts off with the usual routine questioning, but her job is made tougher when the missing woman’s husband attempts suicide.  Does he know the truth?  Did he kill his wife?

MISSING! is an intriguing story.  The characters are likeable, especially the take-charge K.K.  She dives into her job with ease.  The central plot of the mystery is made even more enjoyable by the author’s infusion of humor into every scene.  This isn’t slapstick comedy; instead she adds a chuckle as needed to break up the tension.

The identity of the killer was a surprise.  However, I did find K.K’s reasoning for her deduction to be a little absurd.  Without giving away spoilers, it all comes down to manner in which the killer answered questions during the preliminary interview.  I think there should have been much more substance behind the solution.
