As director at the Kid's Delight Daycare, Jenna Newsome cannot stand to see a child suffer. Unfortunately for one baby, Mickey Strack, the unimaginable is on the horizon. Mickey has been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome and needs an outrageously expensive bone marrow transplant. Mickey's parents learn that their insurance company will not cover this procedure, and $250,000 is out of their reach. Jenna vows to help raise the necessary funds, only the two week time limit is putting extreme pressure on all involved. Rem Lincoln returns to his hometown and finds himself drawn to his former classmate, Jenna. Unfortunately, Rem is fresh out of faith and Jenna is a firm believer in God's awesome power. Can this couple find a way to see past their issues and make a go of their relationship? What will happen to baby Mickey? A MIDNIGHT MIRACLE is a feel-good holiday story. Despite the rather grim storyline with Mickey, the secondary plot involving Rem and Jenna helps lighten the tone without overpowering it. This is a quick, easy read. The outcome is pretty predictable, so don't expect much in the way of surprises. Regardless, if you want a quick pick-me-up for the holidays, Gary Parker's novel is sure to please. |
