Bright and lovely young Faith Fairchild and her family take the lease on a charming Victorian fixer-upper for the summer.  The house, located in Cambridge, was once glorious, but has now fallen on hard times.  It seems dark and lonely, but Faith is more than willing to brighten up the place and looks forward to a summer of rest and relaxation.  But, when Faith runs into Richard Morgan, an ex-honey with issues, she's thrown a little off-balance.  And, matters worsen when Faith discovers that her Brattle Street House has dark secrets of its own.  In a corner of the house's cob-webby attic, Faith finds a trunk with an old diary.  The diary reveals tales of a sinister nature.  Can the intrepid Faith solve a case from the 1940s--the trail is certainly gone stale after more than half a century?  And, what secrets is Richard Morgan hiding?  Will Faith's husband Tom decide to return the family to his regular parish--or will Cambridge become a more permanent abode for Faith and company?  It will take more than hunches and faith to lead the clever Ms. Fairchild to a killer!  Will she unravel her new house's dark past or is Faith in for more than she bargained?

Once again, Katherine Hall Page satisfies!  For those that love Faith Fairchild Mysteries, you'll find more adventure, wit, and sleuthing.  Faith is as charming as ever and the addition of Richard Morgan certainly is a twist.  You'll have to pay close attention is you plan to solve the Brattle House mystery with Faith.  But, rest assured, it can be done!  The final chapters contain a myriad of clues, so, like Faith, you'll have to be alert to every twist and turn.  This is a great mystery for a summer afternoon--a positive time-stealer on days when the garden and yard work are calling.  Faith Fairchild is captivating--don't miss a chance to add this latest whodunit to your collection.
