A lone woman awakens, slowly rising from the concrete sidewalk. Her mind reels in confusion and disorientation, which rapidly turns into apprehension and finally terror.  She examines her surroundings to try to gain a semblance of order in her mind. However, she finds the act fruitless.  The only thing she sees is an empty expanse of blue sky, and limitless sights of concrete walkways. Except for this, the expanse offers no other landmarks. Who is she?  Why is she here?   Those two thoughts scream through her tortured mind.

While thus engaged in thought, she comes upon a weeping muttering man. After a brief exchange of introduction (or rather a lack of) they decide upon names for each other. The man calls her Pretty One; she calls him Hero. Together, they wander across the sea of concrete,  sharing whatever memory comes to mind.

After much time has passed they meet a small boy who explains to Pretty One that, she knows who he is, and she knows her identity.  Every person they meet explains the same thing to her. Finally, they happen upon several buildings, but then Hero disappears.  New people she meets tell her that all is well, they must follow their own roads.

Will she find the answers she seeks? Will her memory return? Will she find Hero? She must find the key to this puzzle, or remain lost forever in this barren waste.

I found this book a  very original and superb piece of literature. THE ROAD TO JUDE promises and carries itself with purpose. The author, Michelina Pagano, does not let the reader down. From start to finish, the drama of the work is constant. The author excellently keeps the reader's attention without mention of sex or heavy action.

Set around the events of September 11, the story involves a lost spirit trying to find her way. Portrayed in positive light, messages of forgiveness, bravery and the real meaning of life are presented.  THE ROAD TO JUDE is not taxing, but instead presents a positive outlook on a horrific day.

I found it to be a first rate book, offering itself as fictional romance.  However,  I feel that it should be classified as inspirational fiction.
