Maggie O'Mulligan is determined to find her buddy a soul mate.  She sets up Dominic Chickalini's profile at a local dating cafe, Matchmocha, and comes up with the woman, Julie, she believes to be perfect.  Meanwhile, Charlie Kennelly is equally convinced that he can find Julie Purello's dream man.  Charlie finds Dominic to be ideal.

Acting as chaperones for the first blind date, Maggie and Charlie each accompany their friend.  Though Dominic and Julie don't seem to be a match made in heaven, Maggie and Charlie, though complete opposites, find sparks flying fast and furious.  There are problems, however, Maggie is engaged to a handsome doctor and Charlie is a confirmed bachelor.  It can't possibly be love at first sight, can it?

ONCE UPON A BLIND DATE is a delightful contemporary romance.  The characters are well-matched, and scenes contain plenty of humor that keeps the story moving along at a swift pace.

There was one thing that niggled at me throughout the book, and it was such a silly thing in essence, but enough to have stood out to this reader.  I do believe that ONCE UPON A BLIND DATE is the first romance I have read that was written in the present tense.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with that choice of tense, but I was so unused to romances being "She laughs" instead of "She laughed" that I found myself having to adjust to that change.  It seemed to throw me off frequently.

Keeping that minor complaint in mind, I still couldn't put the book down.  I will be eager to see if others found themselves thrown off by the different choice of tense.
