Annie Harlowe has it all: a loving husband, beautiful home out on Montauk (Long Island, NY) and two delightful children. Then on one fateful night, Annie's life is changed forever. Annie's husband fails to come home--she's a widow. A year passes and Annie still mourns her loss. One promise she made on her wedding day, a promise that she would never remarry, rests heavily on her mind. The only solace in Annie's life are the frequent phone calls she makes to her late husband's voice mail. Hearing his voice is all it takes to keep her going. Until one night, she calls him and he answers... Stunned beyond belief, Annie struggles desperately to understand what her husband wants of her. Money is tight, but Annie is determined to stay with her children around the clock, acting as both mom and dad. For that reason, she had turned down a job offer. However, Annie knows is that she will do as her husband asks, she will take a job waitressing at a party for Thomas Brannock IV. Little does she know this party is about to spin her life in a completely new direction. HELLO, IT'S ME is such a poignant novel; I couldn't put it down. I have become incredibly fond of Wendy Markham's books, but I find that this latest offering is her very best. A mix of paranormal and contemporary romance, the characters bring the story to life. I admit, I am a sucker for children in romance novels, to me children are the true test of the solidity of a relationship. Annie's children help push their mother along, for they accept Thom Brannock IV far more quickly than Annie is willing to do. She never forgets her wedding day promise, but her children are not willing to let her forget that they truly need a male role-model in their lives. This creates great turmoil in Annie, and her decisions do not come easy for that very reason. Thanks to Wendy Markham for a charming, unforgettable read!
