At the age of
thirty-two, Ruby Silverman does well for herself. Ruby is owner of a
trendy baby shop that supplies designer baby items to moms willing to
shell out the money. Les Sprogs is the trendiest baby store in town,
and Ruby has many elite customers. The only thing missing from Ruby's
life is a beau of her own.
One day, Ruby's life is thrown a bit of upheaval. Her fifty-year old
mom announces that her menopause is not menopause after all--she's
pregnant. Meanwhile, Ruby shockingly discovers that one of her pregnant
celebrity stars is donning a pregnancy suit. Just what is going on?
With the attentions of a handsome Jewish OB/GYN hot on her mind, Ruby
realizes that all is not right at the hospital in town with celebrity
pregnancies and Ruby has the power to bring it to the media's
attention. Doing so, however, could ruin her career.
GUCCI GUCCI GOO is really not as funny as I was expecting. The subject
matter takes on a bit of a darker tone that is usually used in chick
lit. Rather than having a romance, there is a suspense/mystery aspect
to Ruby's story. By no means should this convince you to skip reading
it, quite the opposite is true. The story is involving and packed with
action as Ruby tries to uncover the mystery by herself. There is also
the romantic entanglement with Ruby's relationship with the Jewish
doctor, as she struggles to decide if he is in on it or not. There are
twists thrown in to surprise the reader, so don't expect to have this
one solved early.
