As fate would have it, Sam walked through the truck stop door just as Frannie emerged from the men’s room having just flushed a potato down the toilet. This isn’t the first time she has done this and the owner is not about to ignore this escapade. You might say fate intervenes and Sam offers to take Frannie with him in his travels. As I read the story, it seemed to me that Frannie lacked self-discipline and that Sam was going to regret his earlier offer to have Frannie travel with him. I found RUNNING AWAY WITH FRANNIE to be a tiresome read but there was a thread of a story to be found. I could visualize the characters and the action while slow did proceed towards a conclusion. While the book may not appeal to all readers, those who do read it will find a human interest story.
