Fashion maven Kat Jones is quite put-out that she's been assigned to cover a Renaissance Faire for possible medieval-inspired fashion trends.  She's hot, tired, and her cell phone doesn't work--not to mention the bugs.  Even the excitement of her assistant does nothing to elevate the usually perky Kat's mood, as she's forced to watch jousts, lute-players, and badly dressed faire folk.  By the time Kat is dragged (literally kicking and screaming) by her assistant into a fortune-teller's booth, the LA Style  fashion writer is in a foul mood.  When the gypsy tells Kat that her future is bleak, the fiery Fashionista turns into a real  devil in Prada.  Probably not a good idea!  The disgruntled gypsy curses Kat and the next thing she knows she flat on her back on the jousting field after being hit in the head with a piece of shattered lance.  Kat just wonders why none of the faces looking down at her are familiar--or very friendly.

Poor Kat has been transported back to King Arthur's Court--a place which sounds great on paper but in actuality is sans Starbucks, running water, or cell phone service.  Accused to of being a Saxon spy, Kat is thrown in a cold, dark tower without even MTV to keep her company.  It's a good thing that Camelot abounds with handsome knights ready to save a damsel in distress--if only Kat would allow a rescue!  Determined to do things herself, Kat ends up in one scrape after another.  From instituting a hands-off policy with the randy King Lot to outwitting palace guards, Kat manages to keep herself one perfectly manicured foot ahead of death!

Will Kat ever manage to find a way back to the land of panty-hose and all-night bars, or is she stuck with castle-walls and not-so-courtly knights?  And, why is Kat in Camelot at all?  As the Fashionista tries to find a way home, she manages to find a best friend, a lover, and a deep and dark mystery.  It's just a pity she can't remember very much about the legend of Camelot!

Marianne Mancusi's retelling of Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court  packs a punch!  Bright, witty, and wildly irreverent, Kat Jones leaves her heel-prints all over the Dark Ages.  Even deprived of her beloved cell phone and designer shoes, Kat managers to outwit Merlin, Lot, Morgause, and the Lady of the Lake--and that's just before breakfast!  Only a true Fashionista could make a medieval shift look fetching and turn the head of Arthur's most celebrated knight.  And, as the spunky Kat wins the heart of Camelot, she wins the reader over as well.  This is a wonderful book!  The heroes (and heroines) are vivid and likeable, the romance is sizzling, and the villains are oh-so-bad!  Don't miss a chance to add this hilarious take on Twain to your collection!  This is the perfect vacation novel--so don't forget to leave room for this fetching little Fashionista when you're packing for the beach!
