Move over Buffy--Sunshine and Rayne McDonald are ready to take the stage!  BOYS THAT BITE takes Buffy, Angel, and Charmed one step further.  Witty, ironic, and full of "bite," this sardonic take on vampires, high school Goths, and the search for true love just can't be beat.  When perky soccer player Sunshine McDonald is mistaken for her Goth twin-sister, Rayne, and bitten by a super hot vampire at Club Fang, the only thing Sunshine is concerned with is "who's going to ask her to the prom now?!"  Of course, the fledging vampiress, Sunshine, has more to worry about than prom dresses and dates now that she's part of the legions of the undead.  It's just too bad that her vampiric blood mate, Magnus, is so, well, dead.  Otherwise, he'd make the perfect boyfriend!  And, really, isn't all of eternity a little too much commitment for your average teenager?  Sunshine certainly thinks so, but will she ever get back to "normal" life?  Or, is she stuck being the Queen of the Dead for the rest of her very, very long existence?

 BOYS THAT BITE turns dating, high school angst, and the vampire genre completely upside down.  Mari Mancusi's brilliant parody on life, love, and growing up will leave you in stitches (and sometimes in tears,) but always with a desperation to turn the next page.  Frankly, I can't wait for the sequel--the cliff-hanger is just too much to bear!  This is a great story, perfectly and deliciously told, with a great deal of thought put into every line.  Seldom have I seen comedy ring so poignantly true.  If you are a fan of Charlaine Harris, Josh Whedon, and things that go bump in the night, you can't miss this book.  A real thinker and an all-around great read, BOYS THAT BITE certainly has a bite all its own.  I hope that sequel is well on its way, Ms. Mancusi.  Good work!
