A FATHER’S LOVE is comprised of two novellas that detail the lengths a father will go to in order to prove his love for his child. Steven Manchester’s offering will bring a smile to your face and tears to your eyes. 3 SHOEBOXES follows Dennis Anderson slipping downhill as he tackles a mysterious, crippling ailment. Following a car accident, Dennis’s health becomes increasingly fragile. He has no idea what is happening or why it is happening, but things escalate as he turns to alcohol as a solution. His marriage and family life are in shambles. Is there hope for resolution? GOOSEBERRY ISLAND is the setting for this second novella. David McClain knows what he is missing in life – his soul mate. After ditching his current, needy girlfriend, a chance meeting with a stranger on the beach may just find his dream coming true, but at what cost? First grab the Kleenex; you’ll need them handy. 3 SHOEBOXES starts the reader off on an incredibly honest picture of the downward, spiraling effect that post traumatic stress, anxiety attacks and depression can have on a man’s life. To get the details so vividly accurate, I would assume that Steven has had first hand experience with these disabling conditions. Though it is a shorter novella, Steven manages to capture years in a matter of pages, and the reader never feels shortchanged, as is normal in a novella. The characters have adequate time to develop and the plot moves rapidly without feeling rushed. GOOSEBERRY ISLAND is another story that was close to my heart, as my father-in-law and the heroine in this story fight the same battle. If you want to know more, you need to read the book. I’m not telling! However, I can promise that this story is packed with a romance that leaves you feeling breathless. Be sure to catch a brief interview with Steven in the Established Author Interviews section.
