THE INHERITANCE by Gail MacMillan is a contemporary romance laced with suspense and adventure.  Throw in a dash of the Sasquatch legend, and you have a thrilling read.

Allison Armstrong returns to New Brunswick, Canada for the funeral of her beloved grandfather, Jack Adams.  Allison's grief turns to outrage when she sees Heath Oakes standing beside the waiting hearse.

Heath Oakes is the reason behind Allison's ten year absence in her grandfather's life.  On a July night, all those long years ago, it had taken Heath less than two minutes to destroy all her young dreams of love, romance and heroes.  Since that time, Allison avoided Heath by not returning to New Brunswick, and The Promise, a wilderness resort and fishing lodge founded by Jack.

After the funeral, Allison stays behind to be at the reading of Jack's will.  She is not very happy when she finds, as The Promise has no guests, she and Heath will be the only people at the lodge.   After some argument, both of them agree to a temporary truce until the following morning, when the will is to be read.

When the will is read the next morning, Allison and Heath are both given a 49% share of the lodge, with the remaining 2% going to an unnamed "balance of power" trust.  Declaring she will contest the will, Allison storms out of the office and returns to her parents' home in Ottawa.

When a lawyer gets back to Allison, she is told the will is ironclad and cannot be contested.  She is stuck being the co-owner of a wilderness lodge she doesn't want, and with a partner she definitely could do without.  There is one other inheritance that neither Allison nor Heath expect; a killer roams the land posing as Sasquatch.  Just what are the Sasquatch's intentions?  How far is he willing to go to see them come to light?

Filled with the wild beauty of the Canadian land and wildlife, THE INHERITANCE is sure to keep readers wondering if Allison and Heath will survive their trip down the rapids, escape the madman chasing them,  and come to realize the feelings they are have always had for each other.  Gail MacMillan shows vast knowledge of nature in her descriptions and teases the reader with the legend of the Sasquatch.  THE INHERITANCE will leave you wanting to visit The Promise yourself, maybe to stay forever.
