American heiress Clara Wilson has gone to London to find a respectable husband and escape her brush with scandal back home in New York.  She wants to quell her adventurous self and settle down.  But all that goes out the window when she goes to the wrong ball and meets the one and only Marquess of Rawdon, who is anything but respectable.  The more time Clara spends with the Marquess the more she is convinced that he is a good man and deserves a second chance.

Seger Rawdon is accustomed to the life as a social outcast; going to balls of debauchery and having affairs as he pleases.  All that changes with one dance from a masked American who smells like strawberries.  She brings back feelings that are best left in the past.  Feelings that he thought had died with a certain woman eight years before.   Can Seger and Clara find their love for each other despite both their pasts?  Can they find the trust that is so necessary for a marriage to work?

AN AFFAIR MOST WICKED is a very fast paced and sensual read.  I really enjoyed this book and found myself devouring page after page. I just had to find out what was going to happen next with this couple.  Ms. MacLean also throws in some great twists and turns that you would never expect.  She just has a lovely writing style that conveys all the emotion the characters are feeling onto the reader.  I think Julianne MacLean is a great addition to the romance writing community and is here to stay.  She is now on my auto-buy list and this book is going straight to my keeper shelf.  I would also like to add that this book is the second in the American Heiress series but will stand alone.  I can’t wait for the next one.
