The Anglo-Scottish border country, 1553Marion Scott, the lovely, but fiery, spirited daughter of John Scott, has recently lost her betrothed to untimely death. She is consumed with grief. John is determined to find her another suitable marriage to ensure her happiness. To present her to more suitors, he decides to take her to the Truce Day. Truce Day is treated like a fair, but in actuality it is a time for Wardens of the Marches to listen to grievances and to dispense justice.
The Scotts stay with the Armstrongs, Marion's late fiancé's family. The Armstrong father hopes to secure Marion's hand for another of his male family members. However, John Scott has hopes for an even better deal for Marion's next betrothed.
Truce Day arrives. The weather is perfect for the activities. After seeing the wondrous sights of the fair, Marion arrives at the Dancing green where she is asked to dance by English Sergeant Robert Dunne. It is love at first sight! A love she knows her father will forbid, as he has a strong hatred for the English. When Sergeant Dunne realizes whom Marion is, he immediately warns her to get her father far away from the fair or come evening they will be in great danger! What will become of Marion’s forbidden love? Why was the Sergeant warning her of pending doom? Read THE FLOWER OF YARROW to learn of the exciting and dangerous life that Marion finds herself living!
Morgan MacKenzie has penned a wonderfully exciting and romantic book. It has it all: action, romance, and true love! A must read for any romance reader. I look forward to the next novel titled THE BORDER REIVER'S DAUGHTER. Morgan MacKenzie has a devoted reader if this next novel is as entertaining a read as THE FLOWER OF YARROW.
