Sam McRae begins her morning by finding Detective Martin Perry and FBI Special Agent Carl Jergins awaiting her arrival.  The level-headed attorney knows the presence of an FBI agent is big.  What she discovers is that one of her domestic abuse clients, Melanie Hayes's, is needed for questioning.  Melanie's ex is dead, and Melanie has vanished.  The problem is that Melanie's ex had ties to the mob, and Melanie may be in trouble.

Sam sets off to locate Melanie, but Sam's troubles have only just begun.  She learns that Melanie has been using her name--identity theft--and Sam's not about to take that lightly.  With the help of a private investigator, Sam sets off to uncover the truth about Melanie's life.

IDENTITY CRISIS grips you from the first page.  Sam is a likeable heroine--smart, feisty and determined.  I think she is one the stronger female sleuths to enter the world of fiction in recent months.

The fast pace keeps you on the edge of your seat, and by the ending you are wishing there was more.  I hope Debbi Mack is hard at work on more Sam McRae novels; I'm ready for the next adventure.
