WARPATH (STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) is another expression of the love and dedication that David Alan Mack has for the Star Trek phenomenon. Well known for his work on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode entitled "Starship Down,"  he has also collaborated on a Next Generation comic book and various other Star Trek related materials.

WARPATH (STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) chronicles the inner struggle of Taran'atar, an elder of the Jem'Hadar which are nothing but a race
manufactured for one purpose: to be soldiers who will willingly and
determinedly fight to the death - theirs or their enemy's. Charged by one of the founders, who are considered the overseers of this race, with learning to live peacefully, yet by another reminded of his purpose, he suddenly faces what appears to be a mind shattering conflict of interest. Finally ready to put mind over matter, Taran'atar mortally wounds Captain Kira Nerys and Lieutenant Ro Laren and leaves them for dead while he escapes on an uncertain mission that also spans the alternate universe.

WARPATH (STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) is the kind of novel that Trekkies are chomping at the bit to read. It has the most feared of fighters, the alternate universe, spirituality infused dialog in some scenes, and of course the ever present much beloved characters that have kept us in front of the television for hours on end. David Mack shows that he knows his stuff and his ability to create seamless transition in his writing are well noted among screen writers as well as book critics. An engaging read, this is a great book for the avid Trekkie or Sci Fi aficionado.
