THE INVASION OF FALGANNON ISLE is Deborah MacGillivray’s first contemporary paranormal romance featuring the Mershan brothers and the Montgomerie sisters. In romance circles, she is well known for her Scottish medieval historicals as well as her work as a reviewer for Paranormal Romance Reviews. With her debut novel only dating back to July of 2005, Ms. MacGillivray is well on her way to becoming one of the most prolific romance writers of her time.

THE INVASION OF FALGANNON ISLE drops off the reader on the private Falgannon Isle which is home to a staggering 213 single Scots and not one marriageable female in sight! Run – in more than name only – by Barbara Ann Montgomerie, for whom the island is life itself, measures are soon taken to introduce eligible lasses to the lads – via the Internet. All might be well, were it not for the curse of the Montgomeries that demands that a black-haired, green-eyed, Irish lad be wedded to the Lady of the Isle, if all the other lads are to find lasting happiness. As fate will have it, just such a specimen is dropped off on Falgannon but he has dark secrets that aim to destroy Barbara Ann and her idyllic island. While love is in the air, it may not be enough to conquer all.

THE INVASION OF FALGANNON ISLE is unlike other romance novels you may have read. First and foremost, the quirky characters and the island oddities will make you part of the family rather than take on the impassive role of the onlooker. Secondly, where other romance writers will rush their hero and heroine from bedroom scene to shower stall, Ms. MacGillivray refuses to be rushed and instead crafts a story that is deliberate in its plot development, humorous in its delivery, and sincere in its romance. Just when you think that the characters could now “live happily ever after,” the author throws a wrench into the machinations and you will be alternating between being on the edge of your seat because of the action and laughing out loud because of the zany quirks the characters showcase. After all, who has ever heard of a feline cardsharp? This is a very enjoyable read.
