After
receiving the ultimate rejection, through email, from her most recent
involvement, Sara
Lipton has had enough. Sara thought the kisses she'd shared with
the visiting client were the "I want to see you again"
kind . Since his email asks if he'd ever met her, that's not the
kind of kisses they were in his book.
Sara is changing her approach to relationships and she's got just the
friends to help her with her transformation. Hayden and Missy are
the perfect girls to help her out! Hayden is the ultimate
male-magnet and Missy is hopelessly in love, engaged to her own Romeo.
If anyone can help Sara, it's these two! Hayden knows how to get a
man, and Missy obviously knows how to keep one. There's just a
small problem, Hayden and Missy don't exactly get along.
Simon Northrup, Mr. Northrup to Sara, is the sexy VP of the firm Sara,
Hayden and Missy work for and he's way out of Sara's league. Simon
is extremely hot and brings his custom-tailored shirts to life in a way
that Sara's never noticed before. Simon is wrapped up with his own
female problems and not looking for a relationship; besides, he's tired
of the women he dates using him because of his looks or his money.
His hands are full with his widowed step-mother, Joanna, and her willful
pre-teen daughter, Kayla. When his father died, Simon promised his
father that he'd be a positive influence in Kayla's life. Now it
seems that every time he turns around, Joanna is coming up with a new
reason for Simon to come over and Kayla is throwing a new fit.
Sara is on Simon's mind. She doesn't seem like all the other women
he's ever been involved with, she's real. What he needs most in
his life right now is real. She's always fresh, he never knows
what she'll say or do next, and he's enjoying the discoveries.
Simon has a lot going on in his personal life, but Sara is really
attracted to him, and he's very interested in her. Maybe since
he's got so much going on, Sara can practice her man catching and
keeping lessons on Simon and then move on to a man who will put her
needs first. The only problem is, she really, really likes Simon;
she doesn't want to move on.
Can Sara deal with Simon's family baggage and help him see that Joanna
and Kayla can behave differently? Can Simon fit another
woman in his life right now? Will Sara be able to overcome her own
fears and learn to share the man she loves with other people in his
life?
HOW TO BE THE PERFECT GIRLFRIEND is a very entertaining read! I
really loved this story of a woman who's mature, self-sufficient and
tired of meaningless relationships. Sara doesn't have to have a
man in her life to be who she is, she just wants a fulfilling, healthy
relationship. Sara is a good girl who finds out that she can be a
little bad and really enjoy it. Simon's character is just as
endearing. Simon wants to put his responsibilities first and take
care of his family, he just doesn't see that they're manipulating him
and controlling his life.
There
are so many things I loved about this book - I literally picked it up
and read all of it in one sitting - I didn't get up for a thing!
Filled with humorous dialogue and situations to sexy scenes and poignant
moments between the characters, HOW TO BE THE PERFECT GIRLFRIEND has
something for everyone. Ms. MacAllister's books are always steamy and
entertaining, and this one is no disappointment! You'll not want
to miss this read that will be a sure addition to your keeper shelf!
