Each chapter in THIS SIDE OF THE GATE tells the story of  a soul whose story begins with Atlantis and ends during the Crimean War.  The soul's form changes from chapter to chapter.  At times the soul is an ancient warrior, at other times, it is a student or a teacher. In each chapter, the soul undergoes reincarnation and is portrayed in a new life.

Despite the unique premise behind THIS SIDE OF THE GATE, I found the story to be very tedious reading and not one where a reader might sit down and read from beginning to end in one sitting. It took me a number of sittings to complete reading this novel.  I would expect the readership to be very limited and only a few would enjoy this book.
