Meghan of Blackthorn is not your average woman.  At midnight, Meghan ventures out beyond castle walls to go hunting.  She never expects she’ll be captured and taken hostage.

Rolf MacDhaidh is thrilled to have captured the strong-willed Meghan.  After Meghan’s brother kills his wife and son, Rolf vows to get his revenge.  Meghan is his opportunity—he plans to impregnate Meghan and replace his deceased son.

However, Rolf and Meghan share a past.  Where Rolf once hoped to marry the young beauty, he now must move past his former feelings and exact his revenge.

RISK EVERYTHING is Sophia Johnson’s debut romance.  It is a fast-action, absorbing romance, but I found I disliked some of the characters.

In a novel, it is typical for readers to form a love/hate relationship with the “people” they have come to know.  Characters can make or break a book.  In this case, Rolf is little more than a rapist at heart.  I realize he never actually rapes Meghan, but his implied threats were enough to turn me off.  I had serious issues with his character at first, so it became very hard to like him.  There is another character who comes into play later in the book.  I wondered if the extra conflict was really necessary.  With Meghan's distrust of Rolf, and his determination to win, I think enough conflict existed between them to carry the novel.
