Cara
Fleming, a detective for the Chicago Police, fears she may have been
found by her abusive husband. When her apartment is set afire in an
attempt to stop one of her investigations, she has no recourse but to
disappear into the undercover world of the homeless. She knows this
world well, as she has lived this life before in other cities. Her
investigation centers around Ian Stafford, a figure who seems to have
underworld connections. Ian is believed to have murdered a man and
Ian’s lady friend, Jasmine, has sought Cara’s help. How can Cara
hide Jasmine without breaking the law? Bryan
O’Shaughnessy, an Episcopal priest, meets Cara and recognizes her to
be his soulmate. Bryan enlists the help of a detective friend to try to
locate Cara’s husband, without her knowledge, realizing this may
endanger their relationship. Can he convince her to marry him? Can
Cara’s partner, Marcus, help protect her from Ian’s friends? I
had no problems envisioning the story as it unfolded. I especially liked
Bryan when he laid the vestments of his church aside and jumped onto his
motorcycle. He reminded me so much of an Episcopal priest I used to
know. Lovers of contemporary Christian fiction will want to pick
up a copy of MOMENT OF TRUTH.
