If you ever reveled in fantasies about King Arthur and his court, or found yourself longing for a simpler time, author Michael Jecks and his Knights Templar Mystery series can feed your cravings. If in addition to wishing for a new Renaissance you happen to love a good mystery, again the Knights Templar Mystery series has what you seek.

As happens today, just as in the 14th century, cleverness is all too often coupled with wickedness. THE CREDITON KILLINGS is a story of just that—clever and wicked murders by clever and wicked murderer(s). Solving the mystery and returning peace to the village of Crediton will require all the skill Sir Baldwin Furnshill can muster.

As the Keeper of the King’s Peace Sir Baldwin takes charge firstly of a robbery that is coupled with the discovery of a local maid’s dead body, and then of all the treachery that follows. Sir Baldwin is aided by his trusted friend Simon Puttock—almost a Dr. Watson to Baldwin ’s Holmes—but without the buffoonery.

There is a moderate flow to the story with well-described person, place, and thing. Dialogue is comfortable and serves to provide action/movement. And although there is no true masculine or feminine bend to the story, I feel this Knights Templar Mystery series would make a very satisfying read for gentlemen who enjoy mysteries; the books are close to historical fiction in their feel. With nineteen other books in this mystery series, there is plenty of reading adventure and pleasure to be had.
