In the documentary/movie "Super Size Me", viewers watched with fascination at the damage caused by eating nothing other than fast-food.  This movie was in response to McDonald's claims that their foods were, in fact, healthy.

When the movie ended, Morgan Spurlock was faced with the daunting task of undoing the damage fast-food had done.  This is where Morgan's girlfriend, Alex Jamieson, comes into the picture.  Morgan followed Alex's diet plan and was back to his fit self in just eight weeks.

Now everyone in the world has access to this diet thanks to Rodale.  In THE GREAT AMERICAN DIET you'll learn how easy it is to lose weight, feel great about yourself, and learn to eat nutritious, tasty foods.  Recipes and meal plans make up a good portion of the book.

This diet contains no meat or dairy, so obviously some people will have issues with it from the start.  And as always, money is a factor.  The government recently came out with a study that showed eating organic, healthy foods triples a person's normal grocery budget.  That's no shock to me, but my question is why aren't they doing anything about it?

I showed the book to my doctor who said it would be very easy to adapt the principles Alex uses and still satisfy your meat and dairy cravings--but remember that your meat portions per day are supposed to equal the size of a deck of cards.  There is tremendous benefit to be found within this book, and I highly recommend that people add a copy to their bookshelf.
